VIS Steel recently completed fabrication works for a Simple Cycle Stack project for a U.S.-based customer, covering a range of fabrication and finishing activities for HRSG-related components.
For this project, attention to dimensional accuracy, weld quality, fit-up and surface condition was maintained throughout the fabrication process, in accordance with the project’s technical requirements and quality control procedures.
The fabrication scope covered several key stages, including:
Fabrication and assembly
Welding
Trial assembly
Surface treatment
Insulation
Liner fabrication
Each stage was carried out as part of a controlled fabrication process, with inspection and quality checks performed throughout production.
The project began with fabrication and assembly of the components according to the approved technical requirements. During this stage, dimensional accuracy and proper fit-up were controlled before and during welding to ensure that the fabricated components remained within the required specifications.
Welding was carried out as part of the fabrication sequence, with attention given to weld quality and the overall condition of the fabricated components. Maintaining control at these stages is important for ensuring that the components are ready for subsequent assembly and finishing operations.
Following fabrication and welding, the components underwent trial assembly at the factory.
Trial assembly provides an opportunity to verify the fit between fabricated components and check key dimension and connection points before the components proceed to final preparation. For large or project-specific components, this step also helps identify and address potential fit-up issues before delivery.
After the fabrication and trial assembly stages, the components proceeded to surface treatment and subsequent finishing works in accordance with the project requirements.
The scope also includes installation and liner fabrication, completing the required fabrication and finishing activities for the project.
Through each stage, VIS Steel maintained quality control in line with the project’s requirements, from fabrication and welding through trial assembly and final finishing.
